Dr. Alexandr Burilkov

Assistant Director for Research

Dr. Alexandr Burilkov plays a key leadership role in managing and advancing an organization’s research initiatives. He oversees research projects and facilitates collaboration among researchers, institutions, and stakeholders to drive impactful outcomes.

Before joining the GLOBSEC GroTech Center, Alex was a researcher at the Centre for the Study of Democracy (ZDEMO), Leuphana University of Lüneburg. Previously, he conducted research on security and terrorism issues at Metropolitan University Prague.

He earned his PhD in Political Science from the University of Hamburg, specializing in maritime strategy in China and Iran. Alex is an expert in military and security issues concerning Russia, China, and the post-Soviet space, as well as topics related to regional governance and institutional design. He is also a member of the European Expert Network on Terrorism Issues (EENeT).
